Clouds Nooitgedachter Stud

I only have one mare – Studvet Cloud - bought from the OP herd 4-04-2008, in foal to Arob Pluim belonging to Mr Hartmann. Cloud is 22 years old this year, was born at OP and been in the OP Nooitie herd until last year; used for rectals, student pracs, riding club etc etc. She was only trained to saddle when she was about 12 years old- by Helen Tiffen and soon after won the 1m OP Derby competition. I started riding her in 2005 at the invitation of the students to include staff members in their shows and other equine events. She is the most fantastic pony - she has taught many to ride, but is also very competitive at shows and can jump almost any height at any speed and from any angle- she regularly beat the best warmblood mare up to 80cm at OP shows for a couple of years. She is fantastic also at games, bomb-proof on outrides, and can perform really sweetly in showing and dressage competitions. She was reserve champion working hunter in the Nooitie class at the Horse of the Year Show in 2007 (Simone Steyn riding), and placed in 4 out of 5 classes at the 2007 Pretoria Show despite her shaggy winter coat and relatively poor herd condition. She still behaves like a youngster and is an escape artist! She loves food and especially lucern and hates being confined in a stable.

She has had a few foals over the years (wasn’t regularly bred from) and the previous foal was in 2004-2005 season- a palomino filly by Pretman Tornado called Carla who was bought by Braam Olivier at the big OP auction in 2005.

She foaled a beautiful palomino colt on Xmas day 2008 at the Bon Accord stable where she now lives. His name is Clouds Golden Spark and he was weaned end of June 2009. He is growing well and looks like he’ll be quite big. He did not grow up with other foals so is quite mature and not phased by much but quite feisty (a typical boy).

I am riding Cloud again since weaning the colt and she loves outrides on the big farm near where we stable.

I hope to later put her back into foal to Pretman Tornado –maybe in 2011. I will keep Spark as long as possible- and not castrate him for as long as possible because with his colour and breeding I think it would be a pity to lose his genetic potential.
